Bhubaneswar: In a bid to dislodge impasse over the construction of Lower Suktel Irrigation Project, Water Resources Secretary Suresh Mohapatra will meet members of Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad (BASP) in Bolangir on Thursday.
 
The representatives of the regional outfit, which has been protesting against the project since its inception are expected to raise their long standing demands before the official during the discussion.
 
Villagers of the would be submerged areas of the district, under the aegis of Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad have been demanding adequate compensation against their lands.
 
Earlier, BASP vice president Udaya Singh Thakur had said, “We have been residing in the area for generations. Our forefathers had settled here long ago. Once we are displaced from this area, we would lose hearth and home, besides sources of livelihood forever.”
 
Notably construction deadline of the project, touted as the lifeline of Bolangir ends on March 31.
