Bhubaneswar: Criticising the Odisha government for its lack of cooperation in various developmental projects of the Centre, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha stressed on the need for a 'double engine' government (government of same party at Centre and State) to speed up development process.

The union minister's comment came during a press conference in Bhubaneswar today during his Odisha visit to review various aviation projects in the State.

"When there is a double engine government, where the union government makes effort for development and the State participates in the process, it speeds up the process of development," Sinha said.

Sinha cited the example of his home state Jharkhand and praised the programmes of the BJP government. He suggested that Odisha should also follow the same.

Responding to Sinha's statements, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said that the union minister has raised questions over the federal structure of the country through his 'double engine' statement and it is condemnable.
