Jagatsinghpur: As many as 10 persons, including elderly persons, women and children were injured following a group clash during the Saraswati Puja immersion ceremony in Kundupur village under Balikuda police limits of the district last night.

All the injured have been admitted to the Jagatsinghpur district headquarters hospital for treatment. Three to four persons from each group have been hurt in the clash, said sources.

“We were having food, when a group of men barged inside our house and attacked us with sticks,” said Prabhati Behera, an injured.

While sources said that the violence triggered due to past enmity, police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident. “While the immersion procession was on, two groups clashed. Preliminary investigation reveals past enmity might be the reason behind the group clash,” said Sarbeswara Behera, IIC, Balikuda police station.
