Supporters of sitting BJD MLA Raghunandan Das who have been waiting for the party’s decision, gathered at the legislator's residence in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. They are said to be sceptical of the candidature of the incumbent MLA.
Challenging the leadership of MLA Raghunandan Das, BJD leader Soumyajit Mohapatra, who is aspiring for a party ticket, organised a roadshow at Naveen Niwas on Sunday, pressing for his ticket lobby.
A group of activists of Zilla Swasthya Surakshya Abhiyan staged protests, demanding a medical college in Jagatsinghpur on Saturday. They took out a rally and staged a demonstration by lying prostrate in front of the collectorate.
Locals alleged that as the name of Mandasahi Sarpanch Puspalata Das was not mentioned in the plaque, some of her supporters damaged it.

Manoranjan Gedi was picked up by the personnel of Abhaychandapur police station in connection with a narcotics case and died later under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. Gedi’s family members attributed his death to custodial torture.
