The indefinite private bus strike in Paradip, called in protest against the Chief Minister’s Bus Service, has been temporarily suspended, bringing much-needed relief to commuters across Jagatsinghpur district. The Private Bus Owners’ Association has decided to keep the agitation on hold from today, pending further discussions with the district administration.
Talks Scheduled with District Administration
Paradip Private Bus Owners’ Association chairperson Rashmi Ranjan Parida said a crucial meeting has been scheduled for today at noon involving the Jagatsinghpur District Collector, state-level office bearers, and representatives of local bus owners’ associations. He said a final decision regarding the issue will be taken after the outcome of the talks.
Some Services to Remain Suspended
However, Parida clarified that services under the Chief Minister’s Bus Service, along with routes operating between district headquarters and block headquarters, will remain suspended until a conclusive resolution is reached.
Explaining the decision, Parida said the Jagatsinghpur District Collector held discussions with the local bus owners’ association president, Debendra, and assured that all concerned vehicles would remain halted for the time being. He added that bus services would resume based on mutually agreed terms following the discussions, leading to the temporary suspension of the strike.

Normal Operations Resume After a Week
Following the decision, private bus services in Jagatsinghpur district, which had remained off the roads for the past week, resumed normal operations from today.
The temporary withdrawal of the strike is expected to ease transportation problems faced by daily commuters, students, and office-goers in the coastal district, even as stakeholders await a final resolution through administrative negotiations.
