Carcass of spotted deer found near Puri Indoor stadium

Puri: The carcass of a spotted deer was recovered near the Indoor Stadium in the district today. The matter came to light after locals, who were out for morning walk, spotted the dead animal inside the stadium premises.

According to sources, the body of the deer bore injury marks on stomach, tail and was found lying in a pool of blood.

Though the exact reason behind the death of the deer is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it could be a case of poaching.

“The deer appears to be pregnant and we suspect someone might have killed and thrown it here,” said an eyewitness Bikram Nayak.

On getting information, officials of the Forest department reached the spot and started an investigation.
