Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP today announced to launch a series of mass contact programmes in order to create awareness among the people of Odisha about different scams and corruptions during the tenure of BJD government in the State.

Addressing a presser at the party headquarters here, Odisha BJP president Basant Panda announced that the saffron party will hold ‘Halla Bol’ agitation from October 27 to 30 October protesting various irregularities and corruptions and gherao all block offices across the State.

“The BJD government during its 19-year of reign has turned the State into a hub of corruptions. With an aim to create awareness among masses about the irregularities done by the ruling party, BJP has decided to launch a series of mass contact programmes,” informed State party president Basant Panda.

Panda further stated that the party will organise ‘Lok Sampark Padyatra’ at the village-level from November 1 to 30 while ‘Parivartan Yatra’ will be held from December 1 to 30.

The ‘Parivartan Yatra’ will be held in all the 314 blocks and 114 urban areas of the State which will be participated by many leaders from the centre, he added.

In his comments, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, "The saffron party is making false promises or ‘jumlas’ only. They had promised to provide jobs to two core youths every year and had assured to grant special category status to Odisha in their poll manifesto. But after assuming power at the Centre, they declined to fulfil the promises. People will give appropriate answers to the saffron party during the 2019 elections."

He further stated, "We have been organising padyatras since the last ten years and now BJP is trying to adopt the same tactics. However, they will face the failure."
