BJP activists express resentment over ticket distribution

Bhubaneswar: Supporters of BJP leader Amiya Dash last night staged dharna in front of the party’s State headquarters here after his name was not mentioned in the list of candidates announced for 99 Assembly constituencies.

Resentment brewed among the supporters after the party named Babu Singh, who left BJD and joined BJP recently, as party candidate from Ekamra-Bhubaneswar Assembly seat while denying a ticket to Amiya. They shouted slogans and demanded a party ticket for Amiya. Later BJP state vice president, Samir Mohanty reached the spot and pacified the agitators.

“We have come to the party office to apprise the leadership about our demands. We also want to know why a ticket was denied to Amiya Dash,” said one of the supporters.

Meanwhile, some unknown miscreants damaged the car of Samir Mohanty parked at his residence late last night.

It is pertinent to mention that Amiya Dash was the BJP candidate from Ekamra-Bhubaneswar Assembly seat during the 2014 polls.
