Puri: Resentment grew among devotees here as West Bengal MP Mukul Roy and his family members allegedly touched Lord Balabhadra during ‘Pahandi’ today.

Roy and his family were seen brought close to Lord Balabhadra by some servitors.

Similarly, another woman devotee was seen to be taken close to Lord Jagannath by one servitor during ‘Pahandi’.

In his reaction, Lord Jagannath’s chief servitor (badagrahi) Jagannath Swain Mohapatra said, “So many devotees are coming here to pay respects. If someone touches the deities out of devotion, it is a pride for us.”

Further, he stated now the restriction has been imposed which is not good from the spiritual point view.

Notably, last Monday, a woman devotee climbed onto the chariot of Lord Jagannath before Adapa Pahandi of the deities with the help of a servitor of Jagannath temple. Later, the Srimandir administration suspended the servitor and asked the district collector and SP to investigate the matter.
