Keonjhar: Keonjhar Police along with the SOG on Wednesday morning hunted two Maoists down during a combing operation at Rebana-Palasapala forest under Daitari police limits here, western range DIG Yeshwant Jethwa informed.
“The two rebels were killed during an exchange of fire between the security personnel and rebels. We have recovered the dead bodies and also one INSAS rifle and one 8 mm rifle. We have also expedited the combing operation in the area,” DIG Jethwa said.
The combing operations in the area had been intensified under Daitari, Telkoi, Harichandanpur and Nayakot police limits following the death of the five ultras during an encounter in Raighati area in Jajpur earlier on January 02.
