'This is not your train. Go call the police.' Woman caught smoking inside train, video sparks outrage

A viral video from inside a train compartment has triggered heated debate online after a woman was seen smoking and then arguing with a co-passenger who objected to her actions. The man reminded her that smoking inside the compartment was illegal and asked her to step outside.

In the video, the woman is seated in an air-conditioned coach with a cigarette in hand. When she realises she is being recorded, she confronts the passenger, saying, “You are making a video. This is very wrong. Tell him not to make my video and delete it.” The man calmly replies, “Smoking is illegal. Go smoke outside.” As the argument escalates, she retorts, “I am not spending your money to smoke. This is not your train. Go call the police.”

Railways Responds

The clip quickly spread across social media, with users demanding strict action. Railway Seva, the official support handle on X, confirmed that the complaint had been forwarded to the concerned authorities for action.

Flashback to 2022 SpiceJet Case

The incident has revived memories of social media influencer Bobby Kataria, who was filmed smoking inside a SpiceJet aircraft in 2022. The video drew widespread outrage, with then Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia promising 'zero tolerance' towards such behaviour. Kataria later claimed the video was shot on a dummy plane in Dubai, though this contradicted SpiceJet’s account.

Both cases highlight persistent challenges in enforcing smoking bans inside public transport. While rules are clear, passenger conduct and strict enforcement remain central to ensuring safety and respect for shared spaces.
