Cuttack: The State government today brought a piece of land measuring 2.703 acre, which was given on lease to Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) for building an indoor stadium, back under its possession and control.

The apex sports body of the State was using the land for purposes other than setting up the stadium for which it was given the property on lease for 90 years.

Notably, in 2003, the then district collector had probed the matter when the issue came to his notice and ordered for taking back the piece of land.

“In his inquiry report, the then collector had mentioned that the OCA violated the lease condition. Today, we carried out the resumption order which was given by the collector,” said Cuttack Sadar tahsildar Abanikanta Patnaik.

Earlier, the district administration had taken back the possession of a marriage mandap, Barabati Palace, and adjacent shops located on the premises of Barabati Stadium and were under the control of OCA.
