Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has urged the Centre to take necessary steps for early completion of the remaining work of Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway-203.

In a letter to Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said the NH-203 is extremely important from the point of view of tourism as it connects the state capital with the holy city of Lord Jagannath.

He said over 70 percent of the work on the project, originally scheduled to be completed before Nabakalebara in July last year, was completed before the Rath Yatra last year.

“But the remaining works of Chandanpur road over-bridge (ROB) and Puri bypass have not been resumed after the Rath Yatra, which has caused traffic inconvenience and public discontentment,” he informed the Union minister and requested his personal intervention so that the remaining work is completed without any further delay.
