Bhubaneswar: The main accused in arson at Puri Railway Station, Ramchandran Subhas was remanded to judicial custody after his 6-day remand ended today.

“Currently we cannot say anything as the investigation is in progress. We expect to find some information after further investigation,” said Puri GRP DSP, Devendra Kumar Das.

On Saturday, the Puri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court on Saturday allowed the railway police to conduct polygraph test of Subhas.

Public prosecutor Satyajit Sadangi said, “The accused is changing his statement frequently which is why the polygraph test has become necessary. The court has given permission to the railway police to conduct the polygraph test as per the guidelines.”

Subhas was interrogated by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from Mugalsarai, Gaya and West Bengal.

On Friday, Ramchandran was brought on a 6-day remand by the railway police.
Notably, a major fire broke out at Puri Station on November 3, in which at least five bogies of three empty stationary trains were damaged one after the other. A high-level probe was ordered following the incident. Four suspects were detained by police in connection with the incident.
