Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said the state government has deftly handled a series of natural disasters for over a decade.

“National calamity is not a new thing for us. For the last 15 years, we have bravely fought natural disasters like, flood, drought and cyclone in the state. We have also taken special measures to deal with the drought situation in the state this year. Our farmers have bravely tackled the drought”, he said while inaugurating a convention organised by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD).

Stating that the state government has already announced its package to tackle the drought challenge this year due to dry spell, the chief minister hoped that there would be a bumper rabi crop and the farmers would be immensely benefited. “I have the confidence that together we would be able to tackle the situation this year successfully”, Patnaik pointed out.

He said his long-cherished dream to take the pride and development of Odisha to a new high can be realised through the youth and the students.

Patnaik, who has been often criticised by the opposition over rising unemployment in the state, said his government has prepared a comprehensive youth policy for holistic development of youths and students.
He said youths are being given priority in employment in local industries. "The government has made arrangement for imparting skill development training for the youths."
"Three mantras - conviction, commitment and courage can bring prosperity for the state," he added.
