Cuttack: Spurt in crime against women and children, cyber crime, economic offences and naxal menace in Odisha are likely to dominate the discussions in the two-day senior police officers' conference beginning here tomorrow.

The conference is an annual stock-taking exercise of the crime situation in the state.

More than 100 IPS officers, including superintendents of police (SPs) of all districts, range officers of all ranges and officers heading different wings of the police as well as IPS officers heading other departments are going to deliberate on the current challenges of policing, sources said.

While the state DGP Prakash Mishra will inaugurate the conference here tomorrow, Chief Minister and home minister Naveen Patnaik will address the valedictory session, which was shifted to Bhubaneswar in view of the model code of conduct in force here.

Sources also informed that other aspects pertaining to modernisation and expansion of the police force, improvement in training curriculum by introducing new modules are also likely to be discussed by the senior police officers during the two-day deliberations.
