Cuttack: A day after suspending two officials for their alleged role in the inclusion of the name of Cuttack Mayor Anita Behera and her family in the NFSA beneficiary list, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) commissioner on Wednesday wrote to the district Collector requesting him to cancel the ration cards of seven corporators and two former corporators on the ground that they were ineligible to figure in the list.
The Commissioner had suspended CMC community officer Arghya Pratap Mohanty and Municipality High School teacher Saroj Pratap on Tuesday for the inclusion of mayor Anita Behera and her family in the list.
After much hue and cry over the inclusion of Cuttack's first citizen, Anita had resigned as CMC mayor as well as corporator last evening. She had tendered her resignation voluntarily to protect the image of the party and its president, Anita had told newsmen even as she pleaded innocence.
