Sambalpur: Advanced CCTV cameras will be installed at three circle jails including Samablpur, Baripada and Choudwar for which Rs 1.42 crore have been sanctioned, Sambalpur jailer Sushant Rout said.

The cameras will be put at main gates, inner sides of the jail and wards to keep a close watch on the activities of the prisoners and inmates, he added. Seven CCTV cameras were installed in Sambalpur jail earlier. However, these became defunct.

More transparency can be brought in jail management after the installment of the cameras, Rout hoped.
