Hinjili: Looters are having a field day in Hinjili area of Ganjam district while police allegedly failed to tighten the noose on them. It is evident from three such burglaries taken place in different areas here on Sunday night.

The robbers targeted the house of one Abhimanyu Dalai near Gita Bhawan here and looted around 20-gram gold jewelry, 10-gram silver ornaments along with Rs 15000 cash. The criminals allegedly entered the house by cutting the lock of the main gate in the absence of the any of his family members. One of the relatives of Abhimanyu noticed the lock broken in the evening and informed the police.

Similarly, the looters attempted to rob the house of Abhimanyu Behera in Sriram Nagar of Hinjili by breaking the iron grill of his house on Sunday night. However, they failed to commit the crime when the locals woke up.

In a similar incident, two costly mobile phones were looted from the house of one Mitu Sahu in Hinjili area of Ganjam on the same night.

Following the series of incidents, people expressed resentment over police inaction and demanded intensification of night patrolling in sensitive areas.
