Decapitated Body Found In Paddy Field In Ganjam

Berhampur: In a gruesome incident, a beheaded body of a man was found from a paddy field in Ekalpur village in Surada block of Ganjam District on Thursday. According to sources, the severed head was recovered by police at a distance from the body.

As per reports, the body has been identified to be of one Nilanchal Pradhan of Borsing Village. The victim was reportedly missing from home since last night and today his body was recovered some 10 KM away from his village. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, while family members have claimed that Pradhan was murdered.

Bhaskar Behera, one of Pradhan's relatives said, "He left home with his friends at around 8-9 PM last night but did not return. We dialled his phone several times, but it was switched-off."

"Some villagers in the Ekalpur informed that a body has been found. We came here in the morning and family members identified the body," Behera added.

Bhanjanagar Additional SP, Thakur Prasad Patra informed that a special team has been constituted to investigate the matter. We are collecting information from our local sources, and will be able to provide more details as we as we make progress."
