Puri: Bollywood's 'bad man' Shakti Kapoor on Friday lauded the ongoing efforts of the administration and people to maintain cleanliness at Puri beach.

Kapoor, who arrived in Odisha to attend the 5th edition of Trance Beach Festival in Puri yesterday, claimed that Puri beach is one of the finest beaches in the country.

He further asked people and officials of the hotel industry to pledge for keeping the sea and the beach clean so that more and more tourists from other parts of the world get attracted towards Puri instead of Goa.

"When I saw the beach, I realized that this is one of the cleanest beaches. Personally, I feel that this is better than the Goa beaches," said the Bollywood actor.

Sharing on his Odisha connect, Kapoor said that he has already acted in two Odia films and done open air theatres in the State and will continue to entertain people.

The fifth International Trance Beach Festival got off to a colourful start with a modern duet dance by the Russian artistes.

However, it was the performance of Indian Idol fame, Shaina Choudhury and Manisha Karmakar that left the audiences spellbound.

Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty, MP Tathagata Satpathy, Puri municipality chairperson Jayanta Kumar Sarangi and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik graced the occasion as guests.
