Bhubaneswar: A day after chief minister Naveen Patnaik directed four of his ministers to supervise all works of their respective departments ahead of Rath Yatra, Health minister Atnau Sabysachi Nayak and Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das met Patnaik again at Secretariat today and discussed issues related to the Nabakalebar infrastructural projects.
However, two others ministers – Urban Development minister Puspendra Singhdeo and Law minister Arun Sahu – left for Puri to take stock of the ongoing work of their departments.
Expressing displeasure over the inordinate delay in the Brahma Paribartan rituals, the chief minister had called the four ministers yesterday and directed them to camp in Puri till the forthcoming Rath Yatra and ensure a smooth celebration of the festival.
After the mismanagement during the Nabakalebar festival, the State government is trying hard to conduct the car festival in a smooth manner to save it from further embarrassment, sources said.
While the Brahma Paribartan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings was scheduled to be performed on the midnight of June 15, the secret rituals were held in daytime on June 16, causing widespread resentment among the devotees and general public.
