Bhubaneswar: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan ridiculed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's meeting with her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik and termed it as a bid to develop "mutual cooperation" to deal with chit fund scam probe.

The Petroleum minister, barely an hour after the meeting between the two chief ministers of the neighbouring states, tweeted
"The understanding b/w @Naveen_Odisha led BJD & @ MamataOffficial led TMC is driven by a common bonding of corruption & is nothing but natural."

Pradhan, in a statement also alleged that the primary aim of meeting between Mamata and Naveen was to develop mutual cooperation to deal with chit fund scam investigation.

Though the two chief ministers maintained that there was nothing political during their meeting, Pradhan tweeted saying,: "News is that BJD assured Mamata to positively consider her proposal for a grand alliance in Odisha with Congress as the third partner."

The Union Minister also commented on the purpose of the West Bengal Chief Minister's visit to Odisha.

"Primary reason of Mamata's visit to Odisha was to meet two TMC MPs who are involved in chit fund scam and are lodged in Bhubaneswar jail," Pradhan tweeted even as Banerjee on her arrival in the airport here on April 18 had made it clear that she would meet the ailing TMC MPs. She met Sudip Bandopadhaya at a private hospital on the same night.
