Sundargarh:  Villagers of Kutra  in Sundargarh district today blocked National Highway 10 protesting death of a person in a road accident this morning.

Sources said a newspaper hawker was run over by a speedy 10 wheeler truck near the Kutra bus stand on the Sambalpur-Rourkela NH-10 during the wee hours today. The deceased was identified as MD Rajak. Soon after the incident, the truck driver fled the spot.

Irked over the incident, some locals blocked the NH demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased and construction of an underground road. Several vehicles were left stranded on both sides of the road.

Police rushed to the spot and pacified the angry mob.
