Mysterious blast triggers panic in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Bomikhal area after fire engulfed a house following an explosion here on Sunday. Though property inside the house was completely reduced to ashes, no casualty has been reported.

As per reports, three persons from Puri were staying in the rented house for over a year. However, trio was picked by police early in the morning today.

Soon after the detention of the youths, locals heard loud noise and noticed saw smoke coming out of the house. Later, they then informed the police and fire tenders about the fire.

"The blast occurred soon after police picked the youths from the house. There were three explosions before the house caught fire," said Amit Chaudhury, a local resident.

Though the exact reason behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the police today raided the house on getting a tip-off that some illegal activities were being carried out from the house.

Meanwhile, senior officials of Commissionerate Police are yet to divulge details in connection with the blast and detention of the three suspected youths. Further details are awaited.
