Man loses legs after being hit by truck in Paradip

Paradip: In an unfortunate incident, two persons were critically injured after a truck hit the two-wheeler they were riding near Nilachal market under Bhutamundai in Paradip Tuesday night. The legs of one of the injured have been severed in the mishap.

As per sources, the accident occurred at around 9 pm when a coal- laden truck coming from Paradip hit the scooter from behind. Critical, the injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.

Meanwhile, after hitting the scooter the truck suddenly caught fire following which Marshaghai police reached the spot and soon fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the truck flames.

"The identity of the injured has not been ascertained yet. We are investigating into the incident," said a police official.
