Bhubaneswar: The political circle in the State is aflutter over the caustic remarks of Shishir Gamang, son of former chief minister and senior Congress leader Giridhara Gamang, on the social media raising questions about party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s abilities.

In a message on the social networking site Facebook, the junior Gamang has commented that Gandhi is unable to distinguish between actual activists and flatterers. That’s not all, Shishir has even showed the audacity of asking what kind of punishment the leader should be given for the present condition of the grand-old national party.

To a question, the young Gamang told this correspondent, “It is very difficult for someone to be a member of the party. The number of documents he/she is asked to submit to get membership is enough for the person to get a passport.”

“Further, if my father had done anything wrong, there is nothing wrong in removing him. But, what about the situation after that? The condition of the party has only deteriorated. Who is responsible for this?” he asked.

Notably, Shishir had unsuccessfully fought election as a Congress candidate from Gunupur Assembly seat in Rayagada district in 2009. Even, Gandhi had started his ‘Discovery India’ programme from this constituency. But what went wrong between them after that is only a matter of guess.
