Bhubaneswar: The website of the State Medicinal Plants Board of Odisha has been hacked by some hackers who have identified themselves as ‘Bangladesh Cyber Ghost’. The hackers have left a banner - 'HACKED BY WORLD POTENT DEVIL' on the homepage of the board's website - www.smpborissa.org.in.
The hackers have also posted a warning on the page that reads, "WE ARE BANGLADESH CYBER GHOST WE HAVE TO FIX THE VULNERABILITIES OF YOUR SITE. YOUR ADMIN LOGIN SYSTEM IS VERY WEEK. PLEASE QUICKLY SOLVE THIS THERE IS NO SECURITY OF YOUR SITE YOU ARE WELL ON OUR WAY TO SECURITY THANKS." (Sic)
The page further read, "We are Bangladesh Cyber Ghost, We are legion, We never forgive, We never forget, expect us!”
There are various other things mentioned on the page that indicates that the hackers’ group could be a 7-member team.
It is not the first time that hackers have targeted a government portal. Earlier in July, career section of Dhamra Port website was hacked. Similarly in May, a group of hackers suspected to be from Pakistan had allegedly hacked Utkal University’s website.
Though no damage of any vital government information was reported in the above cases, such incidents have exposed the vulnerability of the websites.
