Puri: Devotees on Sunday made a beeline to the Adap Mandap inside Gundicha temple for the ‘Navami Darshan’ of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

According to Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the gates of the temples were opened at 5 am while the devotees were allowed for darshan from 5:30 am today after several rituals were performed.

“The Sandhya darshan of the Trinity will be stopped after 7 pm today for making necessary arrangements, rituals for the Bahuda yatra of the deities to be conducted tomorrow,” said SJTA chief administrator Pradip Jena.

IG Soumendra Priyadarshi informed that elaborate security arrangements have been made and 125 platoons of police force will be deployed for the Bahuda Yatra.

Senior officials of Odisha Police stated that with assistance from SJTA and servitors, efforts will be taken to ensure that all the rituals during Bahuda Yatra are completed as per schedule so that arrangements for the Suna Vesha can be finalised.

“Our focus is on security and making necessary traffic arrangements for Bahuda as well as Suna Vesha as lakhs of devotees will throng Puri for the important events of Rath Yatra,” said Priyadarshi.
