As many as three places in Odisha recorded temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and above on Wednesday, said the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.

According to the met office, Bolangir emerged the hottest place in the State with the mercury reaching up to a maximum of 40.5 degree Celsius followed by Titlagarh (40.5) and Angul (40).

Similarly, at least eight places in the State recorded temperature of 39 degree Celsius and above, the weather office informed, adding that the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 and 38 degree Celsius, respectively.

 

 

Meanwhile, a low pressure over south-west Bay of Bengal is possibly brewing up to become the year's first cyclone, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.

On the cyclonic system's possible impact like rainfall and wind on Odisha, DG, IMD Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that the present track forecast suggests that it will have no impact on the State during the course of its movement. 

However, the IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the southern part of Bay of Bengal, southeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.
