Amid the severe heatwave conditions in several parts of the country, including Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued 'orange warning' for several states including Rajasthan (west), Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

IMD scientist R.K. Jenamani said that the orange warning has been issued as some areas recorded temperatures of about 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. He said, “During the first week of May, we expect to witness western disturbances and chances of rain increase."

IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar today said that Nor'wester rain is likely to bring relief from the scorching heat in Odisha after three days. "By May 1-2, the maximum temperature is expected to come down by 2 degree under its impact, he said.
