 A cyclonic circulation now lies over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region on May 6, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

As per IMD, It is very likely to move north-westwards and intensify gradually into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours. Under its influence, heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over the Nicobar Islands today and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands from May 6 to May 8.

May 5: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to prevail over Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

May 6: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail over Southeast & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.

May 7: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail over Eastcentral & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.

May 8: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph likely to prevail over central & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal and (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) over Andaman Sea.

May 9: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph likely to prevail over Westcentral & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) over Andaman Sea.
