Man found dead on coal-laden goods train in Odisha's Paradip, police probe underway
A shocking discovery was made at Paradip Port in Odisha when the body of a man was found lying face down on a coal-laden goods train. The train, which had originated from Talcher, was headed to the premises of a private company inside the port. CISF personnel noticed the body as the train entered the port area, prompting an immediate police investigation.
Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of death. Police are probing whether the victim was electrocuted by overhead wires while travelling atop the open-roof wagon, or if he was murdered and dumped on the train. Another angle under investigation is the possible role of coal theft gangs, which are known to target such consignments during transit.
According to reports, CISF officials immediately noticed the body and alerted Paradip police over the phone. However, police waited until a formal written complaint was lodged before taking up the case, which led to some delay in initiating action. Following the registration of the complaint, Paradip police launched a detailed inquiry into the incident.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Investigators are checking for any identification proof on the body and examining whether it bears external injuries. Until now, no details have been confirmed regarding possible wounds or other evidence that might indicate foul play.
Both CISF and Paradip police are actively pursuing leads to establish the circumstances behind the death. Preliminary investigation is ongoing, and officials have stated that further details will be revealed once clarity emerges on the cause of death and the victim’s identity.
