A company named Cognition has introduced what it claims to be the world’s first AI software engineer.

This AI agent, called Devin, has reportedly successfully passed practical engineering interviews conducted by leading AI firms. 

Furthermore, Devin has completed real tasks posted on Upwork, a US-based freelancing platform, as per Cognition.

What Exactly Can Devin Do?

Well, this AI agent boasts advanced abilities in software development, such as coding, debugging, and problem-solving.

Devin utilises machine learning algorithms to continuously learn and enhance its performance, adapting to new challenges along the way.

In simpler terms, Devin can create and launch applications from start to finish and can even train and refine its own AI models, according to their official statement.

The company claims that Devin can remember relevant information at each step, self-improve over time, rectify errors, and handle complex tasks.

Additionally, the makers have equipped Devin with the capability to actively collaborate with users in real-time, accept feedback, and assist with design decisions as needed.

In terms of performance, Cognition asserts that Devin AI can boost efficiency and speed in software development processes by automating repetitive tasks, generating code instantly, expediting project timelines, and significantly reducing development costs.
