With summer knocking doors, turning on the air conditioning has almost become a necessity to beat the heat. It is always better to check your AC cooling capacity and make sure it is in good condition. Several factors such as filters and thermostats can impact the performance of your air conditioning unit over the time.

Here are some ways to fix common AC problems and improve the efficiency of your cooling system.

1.Clean Air Filters

The filter in your air conditioning unit can get clogged with dirt and dust over time, especially in regions like India where ACs are used for more than six months. A clogged air filter can restrict the airflow, causing your AC to work harder and consume more electricity.

It's advisable to clean or replace the air filters regularly to improve the efficiency of your AC.

2.Clean The Condenser Coils

The condenser coils in your air conditioner are located on the outdoor unit and can get covered in dirt, dust, and debris. This can prevent them from releasing heat properly, further reducing the cooling capacity of your machine.
To clean the condenser coils, use a soft brush and gently spray water to remove all the dust.

3.Check Thermostat Settings

If your air conditioning unit suddenly stops working, you should check the thermostat. You can use the thermostat to set the room temperature and to turn on and off the air conditioning.
Make sure that the thermostat is set to the correct temperature and functioning correctly. It's also advisable to set the thermostat to auto mode to avoid frequent adjustments.

4.Check AC Motor

Overuse or fluctuations in electricity can cause motor failure in your AC, impacting its cooling capacity.
If your AC motor is faulty, call the company service center to get professional servicing of your unit.

5.Get Compressor Checked

Damaged compressors can also impact the cooling system of your air conditioner. The compressor is an essential component that controls the circulation of refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser.

Get your compressor checked and replaced by a professional to restore the cooling efficiency of your AC.

All windows and doors are closed when the AC is on and turn off all exhaust fans to further improve the cooling efficiency of your machine.

With proper maintenance and care, your air conditioner can last for many years and keep your home cool and comfortable during the hot summer months.
