In a good news to millions of Sachin Tendulkar fans across the globe, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to unveil a life-size statue of the Master Blaster at his home ground Wankhede Stadium. The statue will be unveiled during the 2023 ICC World Cup which will be held in India.

As per MCA sources, Sachin will be given the special honour to commemorate his 50th birthday celebration on April 24 this year.

MCA president Amol Kale said that the statue will be erected outside the MCA lounge on a circular platform.

“The MCA is celebrating the ‘Golden Jubilee’ year of the ‘Master Blaster’ at the Wankhede and the statue is a part of the celebration,” said Kale in a statement.

There are only a handful of life-size statues in cricket stadiums across the country.

Meanwhile, Sachin has expressed his pleasure over the announcement.

“This decision is a pleasant surprise for me. The journey started at Wankhede for me. I played my first Ranji match here. Achrekar sir reprimanded me here long ago and from thereon I became a serious cricketer. I played my last match at this very venue as well. Life has come full circle for me here. I have wonderful memories of this place. It will be a big moment for me,” Sachin said.
