Indian team management including coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma drew severe flak for excluding veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI against Australia in the recently-concluded World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval.

India decided to go with only one spinner in Ravindra Jadeja and a four pronged pace attack in the match. However, the decision backfired and India suffered a shocking defeat in the marquee match.

Ashwin recently revealed about his feelings on the development. Meanwhile, India pacer Venkatesh Prasad threw his weight behind Ashwin and posted a heartfelt tweet.

“So much depth, empathy and awareness. What a champion is @ashwinravi99, on the field and off it,” Prasad tweeted.

Several fans supported Prasad and posted interesting comments. Some of them also wrote that Ashwin’s exclusion from the playing XI was one of the main reasons behind India’s defeat in the all-important game.

“Still can’t get a game in England despite being all that. Biggest reason why India lost in the WTC final !!!!,” tweeted a fan.

“Lets make @ashwinravi99 as captian of test team. He is sharp and intelligent. Nobody will be able to take him out of team then!!,” wrote another fann.

“I know for sure @ashwinravi99 is going to write a book on his life and it’s gonna be an interesting read,” a third user commented.
