Over 3 quintals of ganja seized in Kandhamal
As part of 'Operation Prahar' aimed at eliminating drug smuggling networks across Odisha, the police have intensified their crackdown on ganja trafficking in Kandhamal district. In a significant achievement, over 3 quintals of ganja were seized in a single day on Friday. As many as seven accused persons have been arrested in this connection so far.
As per reports, the Gochhapada police conducted raids at two separate locations, recovering large quantities of ganja. Some ganja mafias were smuggling the contraband to the Boudh district from the Kumbharkhol area. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the gang near Katramal, recovering 120 kilograms of ganja and arresting two individuals involved in the operation.
Meanwhile, another five accused gang members were apprehended near Balandapada while planning to smuggle ganja. More than two quintals of ganja were recovered from them by the authorities.
This coordinated effort by the State Police and Kandhamal District Police is part of the ongoing Operation Prahar, focused on curbing illicit drug activities. The operation continues with intensified efforts across the district.
