Athletes across the globe often try their hands in playing the gentleman’s game cricket. In the latest instance, Australia’s tennis sensation Ashleigh Barty was spotted showcasing her cricket skills in a widely-circulated video on various social media platforms. The official Twitter handle of the Australian Open also shared a few videos where Barty was seen batting, bowling and keeping wickets during her training sessions.

Barty was seen using her kit bag as the stumps and batting with her coaching team at Melbourne Park. She also kept wickets and bowled to her team for some times.

A couple of days back, she was seen playing a superbly-timed leg glance with her tennis racquet during training. The video of her delicate leg glance had gone viral over various social media platforms with several cricketers applauding the tennis star.

The 25-year-old tennis superstar was once a professional cricketer. She had taken a temporary break from her tennis career in 2014 and a year later signed to play in the Women’s Big Bash League which happens to be Australia’s elite T20 competition. She joined Brisbane Heat, a popular franchise that has both the men’s and women’s teams in the league.

Barty played a total of 10 matches in the cash-rich league and scored her highest individual score of 39 for the Heat. She soon realised that cricket is not her cup of tea and immediately switched back to tennis.
