R Ashwin withdraws from ongoing 3rd Test due to this reason

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended full support and respected the offspinner’s decision to withdraw from the Test squad in this challenging time.

Soon after reaching 500 Test wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin withdrew from the ongoing test Vs England in Rajkot due to a family emergency. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended full support and respected the offspinner’s decision to withdraw from the Test squad in this challenging time. 

According to sources, R Ashwin has flown to Chennai to attend his mother who is unwell. BCCI VP Rajiv Shukla has confirmed the news.

"Wishing speedy recovery of mother of @ashwinravi99. He has to rush and leave Rajkot Test to Chennai to be with his mother. @BCCI," Shukla posted on X.

"The BCCI extends its heartfelt support to the R Ashwin and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance. The Board requests respect for the privacy of Ashwin and his family as they navigate through this challenging time," the board said. 

The Board and the team will continue to provide any necessary assistance to Ashwin and will keep the lines of communication open to offer support as needed, it added. 

As things stand in the 3rd Test match in Rajkot, England have blazed their way to 207/2 with Ben Duckett (133) doing most of the damage by scoring a hundred. England are trailing by 238 runs.
