Rain threat looms large over India vs South Africa game

High-flying India will meet in-form South Africa in a league match of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. Though India have already qualified for the semifinal, the match is considered as the dress rehearsal before the final match.

However, the weather prediction for Kolkata for Sunday afternoon appears gloomy at the moment. There will be around 99 per cent cloud cover over the Eden Gardens with humidity at 54 per cent and temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius when Team India captain Rohit Sharma and South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma will have the toss in the middle. As per the weather department, there is chance of rain.

Meanwhile, the temperature will come down to about 26 degrees with humidity levels rising to 67 per cent. However, the cloud cover will reduce to around 46 per cent by evening. There is also possibility of dew later in the evening in Kolkata.

Making things worse, Air Quality Index (AQI) is also at ‘very unhealthy’ level even in Kolkata which is at around 247. That will make it hard for the players during the match.
