Thanks to veteran pacers like Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, young cricketers in India are getting inspired to take up pace bowling. In the process, Mayank Yadav, an unknown commodity, shattered speed records ball after ball in his sensational spell of fast bowling in the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Mayank impressed with his pace as he delivered a ball that clocked 156 kmph, putting his name on the list of the bowlers who have bowled the fastest balls in the tournament. In IPL 2024, his ball stands at the top of the table.

Former Australia pacer Brett Lee was pleased with Mayank’s performance. He also passed on a critical verdict.

“India has found its fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who has a raw pace and looks impressive,” said Lee,

Notably, Mayank was the reason behind Lucknow’s victory as Kings were 102 without any loss at some stage while chasing 200. However, Mayank dismissed Jonny Bairstow. There was no looking back since then. He was named the Player of the Match for taking three wickets.
