Pace sensation Umran Malik was one of the find of Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Based on his brilliant show in the last edition of the cash-rich league, he was selected in the Indian team. In IPL 2023, fans and experts were expecting that Umran will take his career to the next level while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
However, his non-selection in the playing XI of SRH in most of the matches has baffled one and all. In SRH’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday, captain Aiden Markram didn’t even know why Umran was not a part of the playing XI.
When former swashbuckling opener of Team India Virender Sehwag was asked about Umran’s absence from the team and Makram’s unawareness about it, the former cricketer gave a concerning response.
The former explosive opener feels that something did happen behind the scenes because of which he was dropped from the match against RCB. But, the fact that even Markram was not aware of the reason reveals something was not right between Umran and the SRH management.
“I truly did not understand what ‘behind the scene’ meant. Maybe Umran had a spat with the management or maybe there was some misbehaviour, then that is bad. You were given an opportunity, you did not perform, now you have to wait until your next chance. You should shut the mouths with your performance,” said Sehwag.
