India’s top leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been snubbed in the Indian team for the upcoming T20I series against Australia.

With most of the senior players rested, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a young squad for the series, with India’s Mr 360 degree batsman Suryakumar Yadav leading the squad. Fans were expecting that in absence of many senior players, the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sanju Samson will return to the team for the bilateral series. However, there was no place for either of the three in the Team India squad.

After the announcement of the squad, Chahal took to social media X (earlier known as Twitter) to share a cryptic post. The post was just a single smiley emoticon.

The cryptic post has reportedly gone viral. It has so far garnered over 19.7 k likes. Several fans have flooded the comment box with amazing comments.

“Yuzi could be a much better choice on those slow and sluggish pitches in West Indies for T20 WC 2024, don’t understand what selectors are thinking about while selecting squads? Imo Yuzi should be a surely their in all T20I series from here onwards, considering the T20WC,” wrote a fan.

“Leave Rajsthan Royals as soon as possible, Selectors have some political problems with Rajsthan and that’s why you, Sanju, Riyan have not picked,” tweeted another fan.

Responding to Chahal’s post, a third user commented, “Highest T20 wicket taker for India neglected again without any explanation, it’s not about performance but something else.”

Notably, Chahal was not included in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad as well. In a recent interview, speaking about his ODI World Cup snub, Chahal had said that he is used to such situations now.
