Team India’s promising batter Shubman Gill (92, 92b, 11x4, 2x6) misses a ton by a whisker in a league match of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

Gill was just eight runs away from a much-deserved century when he edged a delivery straight to wicket-keeper Kusal Mendis behind the stumps.

Coming back to the match, Gill stitched together a formidable partnership of 189 runs with star batsman Virat Kohli (88, 94b, 11x4) for the second wicket after the early fall of in-form skipper Rohit Sharma’s (4) wicket. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and put India to bat first.
