Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) led by Faf du Plessis on Saturday held their nerve to enter the IPL 2024 playoffs with a stunning 27-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in front of their fans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Captain Faf du Plessis (54), Virat Kohli (47), Rajat Patidar (41), and Cameron Green (38 not out) excelled in a collective batting show to post a challenging 218/5 and later RCB bowler Yash Dayal restricted CSK to 191/7 with his terrific spelling.

Though Rachin Ravindra, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni tried their best, it wasn’t enough as CSK were restricted to 191/7 to bow out of the competition. In one over, MS Dhoni hit a massive six that the ball flew out of the stadium.

Now, RCB star batsman Dinesh Karthik has credited MS Dhoni’s six for RCB’s win.

As per reports, Dinesh Karthik said, “MS Dhoni hitting that 110M six outside the Chinnaswamy was the best thing that happened, it gave us a new ball which helped us.”

Reports further said that RCB were struggling to bowl with the wet ball. That six by MS Dhoni went out of the ground, which meant the ball had to be changed. Yash Dayal thereafter could grip the ball a lot better and bowled 5 slower deliveries to wrap the match for RCB.

Jadeja and Dhoni hit nine stunning boundaries between themselves to valiantly take CSK close to 200, but once the latter fell to Dayal in the final over, the match turned in RCB’s favour.

CSK needed 10 runs to qualify off the last two balls, but Dayal got his redemption by not giving a single run to spark frenzied celebrations in the venue.
