Following hosts South Africa’s thumping 10-wicket win over Bangladesh in a group stage match at Newlands, the semifinalists of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 have been confirmed.

While India will take on defending champions Australia in the first semi-final, the second semi-final will be played between England and South Africa.

The first semifinal between India and Australia will be played at Newlands in Cape Town on Thursday and the second semifinal between England and South Africa will be played at the same venue on Friday. The high-voltage final match will be played in Cape Town on Sunday.

Despite having a defeat from formidable England, India made it to the semifinals following a victory over Ireland in their last group match and due to a superior run rate. In their first two matches, the Women in Blue scripted easy victories over Pakistan and West Indies.

However, it will not be easy for the Indians against top-ranked Australian side for a place in the summit clash. Following their dominating displays in the group stage, Australia remain fovourites to lift hat-trick of titles. Stopping them will be a tough task for the Indians.

Meanwhile, another semifinalist England are also in great form. They are performing well in all three departments. It will be a herculean task for the hosts South Africa to stop their juggernaut in the second semifinal. However, their bowling attack in particular will be a big threat in the knockout stages.
