After India’s heart-breaking loss against Australia in the recently-concluded World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval, former opener Gautam Gambhir spoke about the reason why India is not being able to win the big ICC titles.

The former southpaw also revealed his relationship with Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni. Gambhir claimed that the relationship he shares with the two is the same and there is nothing personal.

“My relationship with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are the same. If there is an argument between us, it stays only on the field, not off field. There’s nothing personal. They want to win as much as I do,” said Gambhir during an interview.

Shedding light on Men in Blue’s ICC titles drought, Gambhir said that India is not a team-obsessed country rather a nation obsessed with individuals.

“India is not a team-obsessed one rather an individual-obsessed one. We think of certain individuals to be bigger than the team. In other countries like England, New Zealand and Australia the team is greater than any individual. And the stakeholders of Indian cricket, from broadcasters to media, have unfortunately been reduced to PR agencies. They will show just three people the whole day. If you have made a half century and I have also made a 50, if you keep showing one person, everyone will think that he is the only star. The other person will be termed underrated,” said Gambhir.
