ODI World Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan encounter to take Place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

Reports were earlier published in some sections of media that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had requested International Cricket Council (ICC) not to schedule any of their matches in Ahmedabad except the final. However, as per the draft schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with the ICC, the high-voltage encounter between India vs Pakistan is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15 this year.

As per reports, the 2019 finalists, England and New Zealand – who played out a thrilling tie in the last World Cup final – will open the 2023 edition on October 5. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma-led Team India will begin their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.

BCCI sent the draft schedule to the participating countries for feedback after sharing it with ICC. The final schedule is likely to be put out early next week. However, the venues for the semi-finals have not been mentioned in the draft schedule. Semifinal matches are likely to be played on November 15 and 16. The final will take place on November 19 in Ahmedabad. The stadium will also host the opening game.
