Amid the hype around spin-friendly surface at Nagpur, another controversy seems to be surfacing on Day One of the first Test match between India and Australia on Thursday.

A controversial footage of Ravindra Jadeja during the match is currently doing the rounds on various social media platforms. In the footage, it is found that Jadeja seems to have taken something from Mohammed Siraj in his right hand ahead of one of his overs. The broadcast cameras then displayed Jadeja appearing to rub something on his bowling finger.

Responding to the footage, a netizen wrote, “What do you think of this @tdpaine36 Looks like one player giving grippo to the bowler and him rubbing it all over his spinning finger to me. Thoughts?”

Reply to the tweet, former Australian cricketer Tim Paine wrote just one word.

“Interesting,” tweeted Tim Paine.

However, as per some sections of media, Jadeja was applying ointment for sore fingers.

Notably, Jadeja has made a comeback to the international cricket after his injury. He had last played a Test match for India in July 2022.

The star all-rounder mixed his variations well and picked up a fifer to help India put huge pressure on the visitors.

Riding on Ravindra Jadaja (5/47) and Ashwin’s (3/42) splendid bowling performances, India bowled out Australia for a paltry 177 runs in the first innings. Returning from injury with a Ranji Trophy match as his practice game recently, the left-arm spinner was on fire as he turned out to be the wrecker-in-chief during the second session.
